About selfhostedvoice.com

selfhostedvoice.com publishes practical guides for small groups who want to run their own voice and chat: friend groups, gaming clans, families and LAN party hosts. We cover open source projects like Mumble, Matrix/Element, Stoat and Fluxer, commercial options like TeamSpeak and Discord, and SILOD.

Disclosure

Who we are. This site is published by 2-5-2 Technologies. 2-5-2 Technologies also makes SILOD, a self-hosted voice and chat app that appears in our guides. When we write about SILOD, we're writing about our own product. We try to state its limits as plainly as its strengths, for example that its Host runs only on Windows and needs port forwarding for friends outside your home. You should still read those sections knowing who wrote them.

Affiliate links. Some links on this site are, or may become, affiliate or referral links, for example to hosting and domain providers such as DigitalOcean and Namecheap, or to products on Amazon. If you sign up or buy through one, we may earn a commission or credit at no extra cost to you. Those links are marked rel="sponsored".

This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies, to count visits and page views.

How we write. Facts about other apps come from their official sites and documentation, which are listed at the bottom of each guide, along with the date we last checked them. We don't publish made-up ratings, invented statistics or fake reviews. If we haven't tested something ourselves, we don't say we have.
